UPMC is hiring a Casual-Paramedic to support Adams County.

This position offers flexible scheduling. Must be able to work 36 hours every quarter.

Responsibilities: \n
\n - Reflects a positive attitude to the customer in a high stress environment at all times, with a clear understanding of who the customer is.
\n - Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care; assessing online medical command or other resources when appropriate.
\n - Participates in developing and completing research projects.
\n - Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions.
\n - Performs daily equipment check (vehicle, medications)
\n - Participates in shift report from off going crew
\n - Ensures safe operation of patient laden stretcher employing appropriate stretcher discipline at all times.
\n - Maintains safe loading, unloading, adjustment of head of stretcher, and stretcher movement.
\n - Adhering to the drug and alcohol policy at all times including prescription and/or over the counter medicine use.
\n - Completes all official documentation in a timely manner such as payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.
\n - Demonstrates the ability to establish a rapport with customers; including the ability to create and sustain a positive relationship; regardless of circumstances, environment, or patient presentation.
\n - Responds promptly and efficiently to all requests for service.
\n - Maintains fitness for duty by adhering to all employee health requirements.
\n - Reports injuries and completes the appropriate documentation, no matter how minor, to a supervisor in a timely manner.
\n - Demonstrates skills, competencies, and judgment necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using educational resources that are required or made available.
\n - Utilizes appropriate safety channels to report safety concerns and uses tools available to enhance a safe work environment.
\n - Participates constructively in the peer-review driven quality improvement program.
\n - Performs all assigned duties, including daily, weekly, monthly, or other duties assigned by the base site manager, including (but not limited to):
\n - Ensures patient and family confidentiality and dignity at all times.
\n - Adheres to rules for scheduling, including schedule requests, minimum time, and availability.
\n - Selects and uses personal protective equipment appropriate to the level of the anticipated hazard.
\n - Equipment checks Transport log Medication log
\n - Documents appropriate assessment, interventions, and other pertinent patient information in a timely manner.

\n
\n - High school diploma or equivalent
\n - 1 year EMS pre-hospital experience at the advance life support provider level preferred
\n - Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds.
\n - Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required.
\n - Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned.
\n - Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom.
\n - Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PA accredited PA Emergency Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certification required within 90 days of hire.

\n - Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
\n - Driver's License
\n - Emergency Vehicle Operator
\n - Paramedic
\n - Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
\n - Act 33 with renewal
\n - Act 34 with renewal
\n - Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
